Government Affairs

The USIS Government Affairs Office is the voice of USIS on policy-level issues and is charged with four primary responsibilities:

• Communicates our points of view and the needs of our leaders, employees, shareholders, and industry to elected officials and key decision-makers
• Develops strategies that support our people, products, and services within the community and all levels of government
• Educates employees, key decision-makers, and others on important U.S. federal and state policy initiatives
• Promotes the establishment and implementation of policies, regulations, and legislation that advance our mission

Current Key Policy Issues

Security Clearance Reform (SCR) — Fundamental change to the security clearance process began in 2004 with the passage of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act (IRTPA). USIS is committed to continual process improvements in SCR as we respond to customer needs for information technology enhancements and faster turnaround times. USIS remains engaged with decision-makers on Capitol Hill and in state offices to improve investigative methods and outcomes.

Nation Building Support — USIS is working to inform and educate elected officials on our success in training and implementing a homegrown police force in Iraq. As a responsible resource for nation building, we have trained more than 5,000 Iraqi citizens in security, train-the-trainer programs, and emergency response. Our work in support of nation building creates a multiplier effect, which has had a significant positive impact on the quality and quantity of police forces in Iraq.

Healthcare Fraud and Entitlement Protection — USIS actively seeks support from elected officials and decision-makers on technology and related activities leading to real change in healthcare. Our Government Affairs professionals are making certain senior members of Congress, governors, and state legislatures are aware of our efforts and successes.
