Political Contributions

USIS complies fully with all federal, state, and local campaign finance laws and regulations governing political contributions and the disclosure of those contributions.

Contributions made by USIS employees to campaigns of federal and state candidates are the responsibility of the individual making these contributions. It is the individual's responsibility to file reports with the Federal Election Commission and the various state ethics commissions, disclosing disbursements and recipients as well as pre-election and post-election reports.

Consistent with federal law, USIS does not contribute corporate funds to federal candidates, national political party committees, or other federal political committees. Company funds may be used, where legally permissible, to participate in the election of state and local candidates who share USIS public policy views or in support of state and local ballot measures having an impact on the industry.

USIS belongs to several trade associations and pays regular dues to these groups. USIS obtains information from the trade associations on amounts from company dues or payments that were used for lobbying expenditures or political contributions that if made directly by USIS would not be deductible under section 162(e) of the Internal Revenue Code. Those amounts are disclosed to the extent provided by the trade associations.
